17.03.2014 - Conference on “Social Media Ethics"

On March 17, as organized by USAID, the British Embassy to Azerbaijan and the IREX office in Azerbaijan,  a conference on "Social media ethics" was held. The main purpose of the conference was to maintain the freedom of the ever-expanding social media, as well as to encourage morality in the media.

The conference consisted of two parts: 
1) "Social media and ethics. Situation in Azerbijan";  2) "Social media and ethics. International situation."

Khazar University was represented by Jabir Mammadov, Coordinator of the Department of Journalism. Note that along with the country's leading journalists, media specialists, social networking activists, Irfan Siddiq, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Great Britain in Azerbaijan;  Jonas Stewart, U.S. Embassy spokesman on media issues in Azerbaijan;and Angela Nikoara, Director of IREX-Azerbajan participated in the conference.


14.03.2014 - Our Students at Training on "Internet Journalism"


On  March 11-14, students of the Khazar University Department of Journalism of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, including Mirjavad Mustafazade, Zakir Alibeili and Nazrin Amishov,  participated in the training on "Internet Journalism"  which is organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Azerbaijan  Republic and Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations' Union. Students were elected through a contest to participate in the tradining.

The training  was held within the framework of the State Program "Azerbaijani youth in 2011-2015". The aim of the training was to develop skills and capacity of young journalists in an  information society, train qualified personnel  and  assist in the formation of a new generation of journalists.

The training was conducted by experienced journalists.
