Carpet making is a very old and highly developed craft.
Traditionally, Azerbaijan has been one of the world centers for making carpets.
Since medieval times, there have been four major geographic centers of carpet-making in Azerbaijan, including Guba-Shirvan, Garabagh, Tabriz, and Ganja-Gazakh.
Each of these schools is distinguished by its styles and patterns as well as manufacturing technique.
Khazar University‘s Carpet Museum serves both as a museum and as a workshop.
The workshop is run by professional craftsmen.
In addition to serving as a small production unit for making carpets, the museum and workshop are also open for use by students taking courses in fine arts.
