On 29-30 October, Tbilisi State University hosted a Migration Competence Center (MCC) staff and project management meeting within the Tempus project on "Migration and Higher Education – Building Skills and Capacity.” Dr. Jeyhun Mammadov, Head of the Department of Economics and Management, attended the event.
The event was opened with a welcome speech by Prof. Levan Aleksidze, Vice Rector of TSU, and Ms. Ilyana Derilova, the Chief of Mission, IOM Georgia. The event was further led by representatives of Graz University, Austria. Representatives from IOM Azerbaijan, IOM Georgia, and partner universities of the consortium participated in the event.
Partner universities reported on the status of the MCCs and a newly-created master curriculum on migration. The presentations covered achievements so far, challenges and further activities. The meeting concluded with a session to draft an activity plan for 2015 (planning dissemination events and establishing a successful and expanding regional research network) and was followed by discussions of financial issues in order to secure the financial sustainability of joint activities.
As the project will last until April 15th 2015, the last meeting of the consortium will be organized in Georgia in late March 2015 to close the project and disseminate its results.
