On September 17th, the opening ceremony of the new academic year was held at Khazar University. New first-year university students and their parents, other students, the university administration and faculty participated in the event. The ceremony began with the sounding of the national anthem, and then the founder of Khazar University and the chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, made a presentation congratulating teachers and students, especially first-year students, with the new school year; wishing them good luck; giving detailed information about the university; and speaking about achievements.
The Interim President Mohammad Nuriyev congratulated students and faculty on the occasion of the new academic year and informed first-year university students about the learning process.
Then Hamlet Isaxanli, Mahammad Nuriyev, Vice President for Student Affairs and Administration Rafig Ahmadov, and Vice President for International Affairs Farda Asadov presented student cards to the students who had earned high scores on their entrance exams.

Among them was Emil Suleymanli, winner of the latest Olympiad which is held annually at Khazar University, who will study finance.
On behalf of the students, presentations were made by Khagani Gasimov, who was accepted to study economics, and the youngest student in Azerbaijan this year, 15-year-old Maleyka Ismayilzada. They noted that they intended to study hard at Khazar University to become good specialists.
Vagif Mammadov, who spoke on behalf of the parents, said that Khazar University is among the leading educational institutions of the country and called upon students to study in a manner worthy of its name. After the ceremony, a concert was given with performances by university students, then students were invited into their classrooms and the new school year began.
